the blocking schemes need ALOT of work. this is nothing new though.
as far as counters go, if someone is covering the guard i usually switch the run to the other side or audible out of the play since the center or fullback never picks up the DT. maybe one day we will have a football game with real blocking schemes and maybe even double team blocks with guys sliding off to pick up linebackers. I am afraid it will be a long time before we see that though. i would like to run the zone/stretch plays more, but it seems like the are blocked very inconsistently. the best bet is to stick to dives and slams and other runs where no one pulls.
