Has anyone figured out the formula for getting your team onto this list?

I won't say I've "figured it out," but logic would say a good bet is to win your home games, and lots of them.

Re: Top 25 Toughest Places To Play

Honestly, Michigan doesn't belong on that list. The renovations, supposedly, will add some considerable decibels, so I've read, but until then ... Iowa and MSU, even Illinois (when there's actually people there) are all louder Big Ten venues.

But, as with USC, there's a component to this list that probably can't be overlooked, and that's just how hard it is for a team to go into a stadium and win, independent of how loud the crowd is. In that context, Michigan at 13 seems a lot more logical than if you're going by sheer decibel level.

Alabama is certainly a tough place to play. I'm surprised Northern Illinois and Louisiana-Monroe got out of there unscathed.

Not to mention Alabama has beaten one top 15 team at home in the last 10 years, and have never beaten their archrival there.

Its a tough venue to go in and win.
