NCAA vs. Madden

Madden- Pro football-Defense
NCAA-College football-Offense

I don't know why people want NCAA 09 to be geared toward defense when it's actually a offensive game which explains the wide open gameplay.

I think atleast 49 d1 teams averaged 30+ last season and you have way more lopsided games in the NCAA then in the pros.

D1 players are not pros. They don't always take the right angles, they're IQ isn't high like the pros, they're not as fast and powerful, they make more mistakes then pro players, which is why the games are more lopsided.

Some players in college don't actually know zone defenses and you can tell a bad defensive team by the ratings.Don't expect to stop Georgia's offense with WVU defense because it won't happen in real life nor the game.

Get a good defensive team and control your players and quit letting the cpu do everything, the ratings are there for reason.

And people complain about my thread.....LOL

Go back to NBA 2K8, you obviously don't know football.

And how many of these D1 teams averaged 30+ plus against TOP D1 TEAMS????

Furthermore, you ONLY play up to your level of competition. Why can't people get that? You take two top highschool teams playing for the state title, and it might be a great triple OT game with players making great plays one after the other. You know why? Becuse they're playing to their level of competition. Take either of those teams put them against an NFL team and they will barely snap the ball before getting tackled.

Seeing great defense in a college game is just that. This is not Madden and it has NOTHING to do with Madden.

College is a offensive based game therefore the games should stay that way.

The NFL had one team average 30+ which is why it's more defense oriented

Collegiate athletes deserve a little more credit than what you’re giving them; you’re also totally overlooking the fact that on defense players speed ratings are down graded once the ball is out of the qb’s hand.

The hundreds of videos uploaded to EA’s own website show that the game is broken and that “wide-open gameplay” means nothing more than defensive players moving like flocks of birds as the ball carrier zig-zags all the way to the house.

If the players in real life played the way they do in this season’s game they would loose their scholarships.

Reading is also fundamental. I SAID in my post, "How many of these teams that averaged 30 points did so against other TOP(keywordL TOP) D1 teams?" Sure some of these high scoring teams can hang 50 on FIU, but what about against other teams just as good or better than them.

There have been plenty of college games and even natl title games that have been defensive battles.

You are comparing a 30 team NFL league with a 120 team NCAA. Of course the numbers are going to be skewed. You also could take 40 NCAA teams and also make the case that college is a defensive based game.

Re: NCAA vs. Madden

No matter what anyone says, college football is more offensive in nature than the NFL. Just look at the title games from the last year as a reference. The Giants held the high powered Patriots offense in check and yet OSU's great defense couldn't keep LSU from scoring 38 points.

More proof you say? The average point total per game (one team) last year in the NFL was 21.7 points per game. If you just look at the SEC conference, the average point total per game for only conference games was 27.1. I haven't done it for other conferences but its not hard to believe there is more offense in college than the NFL.

That said, wide open gameplay doesn't excuse some of the issues the game has. But the op is right in saying college has more offense. No question imo.
