Depth Chart- Impact Frosh vs. Returning Backup

I recruited the #1 ovr. recruit @ FS, Eddie Scott. He turned out to be an 88.
I redshirted him because I had an All American coming back for his SR year.
Well, now I have a dilemma. I really like to play the players who have paid their dues playing special teams, but this guy is just a freak (Scott).
So it comes down to RS Fr Scott (92) vs.RS JR Anthony Merrit (90)
What would you do? What are some of your own philosophies?

I would try to move the loser of the decison to other position- like SS or CB in this case. If you team is so loaded with 90+s, then i guess it doesn't really matter who you play. When i had loaded teams in the past- i used to cut the 90+s who didn't test the draft if i was good at a position or especially if they won hardware- pretend they went NFL something.

I play my defense to it's strength. This year I'm going with the 3-4 because I have some beasts at LB.

Try a 3-3-5, or a 4-2-5.

I would start the RS Freshman. Like the other guy said, though, look into switching positions on the RS Junior.

Yea, I looked into moving the JR to another position but for some reason his rating dropps 13 points if he moves to SS which would put him 3rd on the SS depth chart and my CB depth is pretty good. I guess, I'll have to blow out the teams I am supposed to so both can get PT.

For sure. That RS Freshman is going to be a stud! 99 OVR when he is a RS Junior. Compare that to where you current RS Junior is and you can see the difference in caliber. 99 vs. 90.

Just start the veteran at SS. Don't change his position. That is career suicide. He'll still be awesome at SS.
