Re: Differences between PS2 version and PS3 version??

I saw someone mention the 07 version and that brought up another question:

Is there much difference between the 06-09 versions on the PS2? If they are basically the same, I may just go out and buy 06 or 07 for a couple of bucks and keep 09 on my 360.

There's a big difference with some features. In '06 the option game was too easy as was the deep ball. However, momentum and jump the snap weren't in the game which was a good thing. They were done poorly in '07. Plus '07 took away the DL moves which were mapped to the R-stick in '06 and I miss that.

While the passing game was much improved in '07 some of the new features sapped the fun that '06. '06 was more arcadey but still a blast. '07s running game turned more into a call an inside run play and bounce it outside constantly.

I can't comment about '08 other than that people felt the pursuit angles were horrible leading to outside runs that easily went for TDs. Plus the dynasty mode had a bug where tons of teams would end up on probation. If you don't mind arcadey play I would grab '06 cheap and just have a blast with it.

I will say that I liked the feel and weight of the players a lot more on the PS2. It really made playing defense a lot better/easier. I find trying to defend the pass in the next gen versions to be extremely difficult because of this problem.

Maybe more realistic but not more responsive.

08 is a big leap from 07. 09 didn't come out for original xbox so i can't comment on that.

But 08 > 07 for both PS2 and Original Xbox.

Agreed. Controlling the MLB feels like you're stuck in concrete on the 360.
