I was going through recruiting (Texas A&M) mid-season and i was looking through all of the players who didn't have any scholarship offers and players who had scholly's but weren't very close to committing to any school.

I look at the number one strong safety and i see that he has an offer from Tennessee and that's his only offer! He was also 5 stars too. I knew i had a good chance at snagging him up and i tried my hardest and i ended up getting him in the offseason. I look at his ratings and i notice he's a hard hitter strong safety with 91 speed and 93 acceleration with 72 tackle!

He was probably my best pickup in the offseason because my other strong safety ended up advancing 7 points and was a 94 overall. I knew i could run the 4-2-5 defense with these two safeties well so that's what i did.

When the depth chart came around in the off season i noticed that he was rated an 88 overall but in the "view rosters" section he was still rated an 80....

I guess the computer adds awareness to the second strong safety on the depth chart in the 4-2-5 defense because he will be playing more or somethin....anybody else notice this?

I don't know the exact reason but I think it's just a glitch. This happened to some players on 08 as well. They appear better in the depth chart and I think it only does this to FR.

yeah, i noticed it on 08, but the strong safety was a juco guy so he's a junior

My fault. I forgot about that. I had a JUCO QB do the same thing. I guess it's for all newcomers/signees.

yeah i still find it kind of weird though because this is the first time it's happened to me on this game...and i've been recruiting specific players for the system i run since the games been out..idk..i'm gonna check "view rosters" and then go check the depth chart and see if he has increased awareness

I've had it happen a few times. Usually, the player has eventually become that good even in the player edit screen.

Did you promise him something? Promises typically make a recruit better in his first year with a team. Weird, but I guess he has supreme confidence and plays much better (he regresses back to his default rating after first season though)

Wow, really? That would seem to jive with what I've seen, because the classic case of guys coming in with higher OVRs in the depth chart have all been guys I landed at the last minute, with promises.
