I mean how many times can you keep expecting to be happy with the game and get burned by it and still keep hoping? Isn't that the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing again and again and hoping for a different outcome each time?
Ditto.

Back in the glory days...i.e. 2002-2004, you had solid, balanced gameplay that allowed for both offensive and defensive playmaking without one side being so horribly skewed like wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide open gameplay.

You also had very cool Sports Illustrated covers, Lee Corso putting on the mascot head, and team entrances.

That being said....I can't help that I have football fever. I'm going to keep my fingers crossed that EA actually delivers the goods for the first time on "Next Gen". We'll see soon enough.
"Wide Open Gameplay" to me was an excuse from EA that "our defense sucks this year so we need a motto to CYA".

In many ways I agree with you. As I read Madden's blog today I cringed. Where is NCAA's announcement for FORMATION SUBS, FCS, CAS, pre-game show, etc.????? It's time for NCAA to break out the big announcements. I know online is this week but I don't play online as I am a dynasty guy. Come on EA, it's time to excite offline dynasty people. Take a page from the Madden team.

NCAA Football 10 vs. Madden NFL 10.

It's going to be interesting this year. I was hoping the titles would evolve at the same, aggressive rate. However, it looks like Madden might take the lead, which already leaves NCAA "behind."

I still can't believe NCAA isn't going to have referees. I thought that issue was going to be behind us once and for all.

This is the year they overpower the offense with stifling defense (NCAA 05 anyone?). The new feature will be "REVAMPED DEFENSE"...LOL..

Well this is like the third year Madden will have long hair in the game and NCAA won't so why are you so shocked? Look for NCAA to get refs in like...well 3 years, if ever.

Madden has been ahead for years. The main issue you bring up is the absence of referees? I think square one would by OL DL interaction or the "110 degree" cutting ability garbage they call wide open gameplay.
