Why are you confident? I can't recall any valid CPU rushing attack that's consistently decent in a long, long, long time. The reason is because you can just blitz and blitzes stop rushes as well as passing plays, which is totally wrong because EA does not understand the difference between a rush blitz and a pass blitz.

If play action and draw plays worked correctly and if the defenders actually blitzed correctly then just sending the house on blitzes wouldn't serve to shut down both passes and rushes.

The cpu rushing attack is usually very neuterd on default but I've always been able to tweak the sliders to get the cpu rushing attack working well in the past. Last year the sliders just didn't work well enough to do it and was an aberation for me in the series. I just hope the sliders work better this year so we can finetune the game the way we want.

Like you, I've been able to adjust the sliders to get passable running game from the the CPU, however the CPU running back A.I. has been so horrible for such a long time now, that there has never been a way to make it totally realistic.

They've got to tune it so that the backs hit the hole hard and "realize" that a 3 or 4 yard gain is acceptable. That it doesn't have to be a two yard loss or a twenty yard gain.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

You just hit the nail on the head right there. It's not so much that cpu can't rush, it's that:

a) it chooses not to in obvious situations far too often
b) it thinks any back it's controlling is barry sanders, 2 yard loss or 20 yard gain, no 3 or 4 yard rumble right at you and take what it can get philosophy.

those two things above are nothing that sliders can really fix. far too often if you find the cpu got realistic rushing stats, like 23 attempts for 108 yards, it will be because it had a ton of 0, -2 yard rushes and one 88 yard one. Yes that does happen in some real life games but it's not the norm.

This has been my beef with both the football games but I reply it more in the Madden section then here but you did hit the the nail right on the head. Backs need to learn to settle for the 2-3 yd gains waaaaaaaay more often then trying to break the big run. Just look at football in gerneral, there way more 1-3 yrd gains then 20+ yard runs. (Although in NCAA theres more bigger runs than the NFL) But still backs do not try and makes every run try and be a homerun. They know when to take the 2-3 yard runs and when they can get outside on the edge.
