I'm sure they would like to, but it's just not likely. I believe the commentary crew are only available to EA for 3-4 days a year. not enough time to record all new lines for everything.

Re: Same old dried out commentary?

the idea of completely new commentary is a bit ridiculous unless you're changing the cast every year. commentators do often use catch phrases or the same phrases sometimes. what i would want is a more natural delivery and different variations of some of the same phrases. they probably put too much emphasis on the catch phrases instead of mixing in a good bit of just regular commentary. go off topic a little bit during dynasties and mention other teams, other games, and how its affecting the teams playing in the game theyre calling. maybe its a wee bit complicated to record something specific like "good block by the left guard to spring the run" and cue it up when it actually happens on the field. the current commentary doesnt bother me that much, but if they were to focus on it thats what id want.

Re: Same old dried out commentary?

I've liked the commentary in the series. I'm not sick of them yet. They have over 50,000 recorded lines in the database but they need to do a better job of not repeating certain ones. I don't think we need to throw out the baby with the bath water.

One thing I hope they change this year is actually announcing player names more. They referred to players by position or class too often last year. They did that intentionally so they wouldn't have to adjust the audio gap in commentary due to long or short names but it takes away from the presentation. If I'm using a named database, they need to say the names more often.

Re: Same old dried out commentary?

if thats really the problem why dont they say the player name at the end of the statement.

what a great play by_______ smith, jones, or fouafasthaafsa.

He really blasted him there, but thats the kind of effort you expect from _______

there it is a new school touchdown record! congratulations to ______

anyways... my fav one is were you get a dropped pass and corso says i hate when they look at their hands like they were supposed to do something different, and then herby waits a sec or two and says ive seen you give that look to your golf clubs (or something like that)
