Slide protecting in the running game

I've run a search and come up with just a little bit of info on this.

Does slide protection do anything in the running game?

If I slide away from the side I'm running a triple option to out of flexbone, will my tackle leave the DE alone and allow me to read him on an option?


I've got word from a guy I trust that it has no effect on the run game...but I'd like to hear from anyone who thinks otherwise.


I'm a last-gen user, so I don't know one way or the other.

sorry i meant to reply to this thread yesterday but never got around to it.....

according to the devs its not supposed to help running plays at all......

but

i think it does

I haven't ever noticed a consistent difference in terms of assignments or who players block. If it has an impact at all, and I'm not convinced that it does, it seems like the only thing that it effects is where the linemen try to drive their man after they engage him in a block animation.
