not surprising, I believe that the guy who was in charge of the '06 version of Race for the Heisman(Jeff Ecker) is the guy that was in charge of Road to Glory(he wasn't in charge of Campus Legend)

So in other words they took Campus Legend, which though bare bones, was authentic. And now going to be a challenge based game where by you need to complete certain tasks?

I am assuming those tasks would be somethign like, score 4 TD, run for 150 yards. Juke 10 players etc.

If this is true, it looks like a big gimmick which will get old fast. Instead, they should focus on a more authentic experience, i.e. fewer teams will recruit you out of high school. You have to write a mini-SAT. You can lose your starting position if you do poorly or don't practice. You have to write tests based on your major, and school attributes. (i.e. you can be a communications student at Michigan State, or an aerospace engineering student at Georgia Tech) Your score on the test will determine your GPA and academic eligibility.
