Most defenses past Middle School make assignment calls that cover those three areas:

Line/LBS/Coverage

(Ex. of one of our 4-3 play calls: Slant Right, Mike Spy Zone, 2 Deep Man)

(The play consists of the line doing "you guessed it" hitting the first hole to their right, the Middle LB spying the QB with the OLBs in a 5yd drop zone after reading their guards and the DBs are in man with the Safeties Deep zone each on their half of the field.)

There's always more technique that could turn this post into something much longer but I'm sure I've already gone way over...sorry about the long post.
+1. Well said. I would love it if EA adopted that play calling system. I rarely do much adjusting, even though I really want to, because I have no time to read the offense and make a necessary adjustment.

Hopefully NCAA design team can add this simple fix to the gameplay Patch 2 that they have been discussing.
