Key stats for each position

If you had to pick three stats to base the quality of a player by, what would they be (for each position)? I know that awareness plays a bigger role this year, but is it the primary stat to look at? I've seen speed mentioned a bunch of times as the key stat, but is it more important than something like tackle for linebackers? I know there's a lot more to the quality of a position than just three stats, but it's a lot easier to focus on a few, and since "overall" doesn't seem to be the best indicator...

On defense for corners I look at zone/man coverage ratings. If I'm playing a user I call zone 90% of the time so I try to get the guys with the higher zone coverage ratings. I also look at height/weight, I tend to go for the big DT's (I had one guy who was 6'8, 340, and was rated 86 and I started him over my other guy who was like 6'3 but rated 90).

Re: Key stats for each position

it depends on the offense or defense I'm running, but in general for me:

QB - THP and THA. if I need a fast QB, then I factor that in.

HB - carry rating, B and up speed, break tackle, truck/spin/juke depending on the type of back he is.

FB - block ratings

WR - B and up speed, catch rating

TE - C+ and up speed, block ratings, catch rating

OL - block ratings and awareness.

DT - tackle, power move and block shedding

DE - C+ and up speed, either good power or good finesse move along with block shedding.

LB - C+ and up speed, tackling, decent man/zone ratings, pursuit rating

CB - B+ and up speed, good man/zone ratings, good press rating

Safeties - B and up speed, good man/zone rating

for all defensive position, good awareness is also good. may have forgotten a few here or that, but those are from the top of my head that I like to look at.

Re: Key stats for each position

It matters what you need it for. Awarness is not as important if you are playing and that is what i will base it on.

QB- Throw power and accuracy, speed
RB- Speed, Break tackle, Elusiveness/power
FB- speed, Power, impact block
WR- Speed, catching, catching in traffic
TE- Speed, catching, catching in traffic
OL- Run block, pass block, strength
DE- Speed, Strength, Finnesse/power moves
DT- Strength, Tackle, Finnesse/power moves
LB- Speed, Tackle, coverage
CB- Speed, tackle, Coverage
S- Speed Tackle Coverage
K- Power, Accuracy
P- Power Accuracy
Returner- Speed, Speed, Speed
LS- Speed to get down there on the the punt because the ball is rarely ever blocked. the computer has never done it to me and i got lucky once and blocked one.
3rd down back- Best runningback who can catch.
