Why should he do that? That thread has several hundred replies and his question may get lost. I don't see any problem in him asking this in a new thread.

Re: Formation Shifting

Do you mean how do you switch between Normal, CB Swap, Safety Swap, etc. on defense and Backup QB, Spell HB, Dual HB, etc. on offense? If so, it appears that this can only be done if you call plays by formation.

Re: Formation Shifting

No shifting in the demo. Certain plays have automotion, but that's about as close as it gets.

If I remember right, Joe Montana Sports Talk Football, which was released on the Sega Genesis in 1992, had shifting.

It was very simple: At the play selection screen you'd click a button the enable shifting, then you'd select your play, and then when you got to the line of scrimmage, the offense would line up in a random formation and then shift into the true formation.

Hard to believe Madden and NCAA haven't offered shifting in all that time.

EDIT: If you mean packages, you can cycle through packages from the play selection screen with the right stick.

Re: Formation Shifting

Yea I am not sure why they do not have it either. This would be a great feature added especially on defense when playing another user. Let's say your opponent comes out on 3rd and 2 in an I formation with one receiver and you come out on defense in a base 4-3, then before the snap you "jump to" a bear defense to stuff the run. Maybe their is still time to get this in the retail version?
