Sticks vs D-pad

I hear people mention you have to be good on the sticks so I have to ask is using the left stick to move your player more rewarding than using the D-pad?

I have just always used the D-pad and wondered what some of the experienced people here think of this?

The D-Pad is too stiff for my tastes and doesn't provide a full range of movement in my opinion. Also, I plan on using the auto sprint feature which probably isn't very D-Pad friendly.

This is my biggest complaint of the 360 controller, and the football games on it. I grew up on the D-Pad, and still haven't gotten used to using the stick for football games.

Re: Sticks vs D-pad

I grew up with a PS1 without sticks, so it took me forever to adjust to sticks. But I like them better, more fluid and natural feeling.

I grew up on the NES. Add in SNES, then PS1/2, I'm never getting used to the sticks.

I fell in love with the joy pad stick ever since it was on the Dream cast then into PS one and never looked back.It has so much more control of the players or game it self and like the OP have said just more fluid motion and not darting place to place etc.

I'm all about the sticks. I've tried to go back to using the d-pad, but their is no substitution for the sticks imo.
