Good run plays from shotgun

I use a spread or an air raid playbook and I usually throw the ball very well but I find that running from the shotgun seems very hard even if they're in a 3-4 and only have 4 guys in the box. The defenders seem to get off the blocks very soon and tackle my back before he can get by them, usually ending in a 2-3 yard gain.

Anyone know some plays or general strategies at running from the gun?

I'm a fan of any shotgun run plays with pulling guards. Florida's playbook has some fantastic shotgun runs. While they're supposedly a spread team, the only thing spread about Florida's running game is how it's all from the shotgun. There are plenty of plays with TEs and FBs.

Yeah I actually like their playbook a lot. Has a lot of quick passes, drags, and slants. The Jet Option Sweep from the Gator Heavy is an automatic TD inside the 5. I'll practice some runs with that.

I don't know the name of the play or formation, but I like running the play where you have trips to the left then run outside to the right.

There are only two good running options out of the shotgun: Wildcat and Audible.

I don't like running out of the gun unless it's an option. A draw play can be good on 3rd down if the D is guessing pass, but other than that it's either minus 4 or plus 8 haha. There are just some running plays I try to run and then say "Im never doing that again".

Oregon seems to have better runs out of the Shotgun than Florida does.

Re: Good run plays from shotgun

I've began trying to pinch the line every time I use a shotgun run, and its made a huge difference. Defenders aren't pushed back as much, but in exchange it takes them longer to get off their blocks. Now if you find a seam you can run through it without the d-lineman getting off the block just as you're about to hit it.

My run game is 10 times better since I've started pinching. Last game Baron Batch had 25 carries for 118 yards.
