What player do you control on Defense and why?

The fastest LB i have on the field. I throw him in zone defense and cover the middle on passes or stuff the run on run plays. It works good cause i can cover the slant route and read a screen way better than the cpu.

Usually one of my DE's. Sometimes LB, but only if they are on a blitz, same for a DB.

I'd say this is pretty spot on for myself as well. Though I generally play with a 3-4 so just swap MLB for OLB and I play the short/flat zones or blitz.

Running downs = MLB or DT; why: With the MLB you can move freely and you have time to read the play and go the way of the hand off. With the DT I can clog up the middle and force the run outside to my DE's/LB's

Passing downs = DE or blitzing OLB; why: With the DE I can get around the corner with a speed rusher and only send 4 leaving 7 in coverage. With the OLB I can get a free run as long as the TE is not on the side of the blitz.

Whoever my star player is unless he is on the D-Line, then I control the better of the safeties.

I'm gonna keep practicing with the MLB... the reason I started the thread was because had some friends over last night and one guy controlled MLB and just owned everyone

I just use the preplay view and see what my MLB is supposed to do... and I imitate it. If it's man coverage though, I get worried. If It's blitz, then I'm fine... if it's just standing there in the zone, I usually misread and some guy's wide open haha

I control one of the safeties 75% of the time. If I have both safeties in man coverage than I will control a D-Lineman

Most of the time I control a CB on their number one reciever and sometimes I'll play the d-line.
