Size: Does it matter?

Does player size matter? I'm thinking particularly at linemen and running backs.

One thing I know for sure is that QB height matters for sure. The taller the QB, the less batted down passes at the line.

The bigger the d-lineman are the more space they take up so I always move dt's to defensive ends for my 3-4.

See, for me, even that statement doesn't really hold to form. I mean it SHOULD. But whenever a lineman gets his hands on the ball it usually really hits him in the arms. With a tall QB, maybe it just hits him in the hands? I dunno, I get a lot of passes batted down no matter the QB.

Re: Size: Does it matter?

I can tell you with a resounding YES that it doesnt matter, or at least from my experiences. I signed an athlete who was 6ft 220 and for fun since he didnt fit at any skill positions i put him at RT. He was an 83 RT as a freshman and is now a 99ovr RT and he is still only 6ft 230 but man can he plow over people and it is probably the funniest thing i have ever seen. Hes blocking like hes 330lbs not 230lbs haha

No, not in the least......the game has zero knowledge of simple physics......the strongest players aren't 220 lbs, and the fastest guys aren't 240 in real life, but in the game....it all goes to hell.

EVERY single offseason, I see this:
RBs
6'2" 190 power back
5'10" 230 speed back

Stupid.

Re: Size: Does it matter?

I think height for receivers or corners sort of matters, its easier to throw it up to a 6 foot 8 guy than a 5 foot 7 guy.

Weight is meaningless, however, and height doesn't matter much at other positions.

I does not matter one iota you can have a dominating 210 pound DT. Its sad because it mattered last year. Its like they added locomotion but removed part of the basic physics.

Re: Size: Does it matter?

I'm with guitar, wr height matters, mostly on deep lobs. My 6'4" wr can go up and get jump balls but my 5'11" with similar catch/catch in traffic ratings gets the ball batted away most of the time on the same type of throws but thats the only time I really see any type of size effect
