NCAA - Who to be..

Hi all,

I am kinda of new to the NCAA scene, saw a few college games last year via online streams and ESPN America over here in the England which I really started to get into.

I hope to purchase NCAA football 12 in July/August, but the question remains.

Who do I follow/play with?

I'm a Reading fan for football/soccer here in England.

A Bengals fan for the NFL - mainly because in 2003 I picked up coverage of the draft and said to myself "Who ever the worst team is I'll follow"

Follow the Bulls in basketball - again mainly because of one Michael Jordan and the Space Jam film, but also because of Luol Deng.

I guess I like an underdog but also a team with a solid base capable of winning and punching above their weight from time to time.

Any suggestions guys?

An underdog who's capable to punch above their weight? Sounds like TCU to me.

Maybe San Diego State University Aztecs? They are usually mediocre, but just had 9 win season. They play in an NFL Stadium and get 30k or so fans each game.

That a good start, especially with Cincinnati's addition of Dalton as Palmer possible successor.

Thanks for the reply, wouldn't mind a few options, maybe a draw it out of a hat decision might be needed.

Re: NCAA - Who to be..

Eh, its hard for somebody to say who to follow. Most of us picked our teams based on something. Either hometown/state team, or our former school or somthing really small like watching UCLA upset USC's unbeaten season.

My favorite teams have actually come from really small things. I like UCLA for reasons above, I like Michigan because it is my families team, and I like Army because, well, there is somthing about West Point Academy that draws me too them.

I'd say, look at the ratings when the game comes out, find one of those happy medium teams, or maybe a lower tier BCS school and beat up the big guys. Thats how I picked a Soccer team in FIFA!

TDenverFan - Thanks for that San Diego are in the hat.

Kaiser Wihelm - You're exactly the kind of person I can relate to.

I'm a Reading fan because I was born there and spent many happy Saturdays watching them.

A Bengal as stated out of chance.

And the Bulls because of a cheesy '96 film.

If I don't pick before then the mid team choice when the game comes out sounds good.

One question though when recruiting what is it based on.

Previous season record/bowl game win or college reputation??

Indiana and Minnesota either upgraded (IU) or built a brand new stadium (MN) this past year and a half, so that will help the fan base in years to come. It will also help with recruiting in real life as well, so you can pretend to build them up yourself.

It will also feel good to beat Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Penn State (sort of)

ps2sportgamer - Thanks for the recommendations. I hope one day the rivalries become a factor for me, also who doesn't like building a team up in a video game.

Give the Bengals/Bills/Lions/I can go on anyday of the week over the Colts/Pats/Steelers.
