I dont think "having your head on a swivel" has anything to do with an offensive who has no one between him and the end zone!!! At least no respectable HS coach teaches that and certainly no college coach. lol. That is phrase used for players in traffic. Specifically WRs running slant routes over the middle! ')

If you're not the one with the ball what possible point is there to running straight ahead (when no one is in front on you) and not looking to see if someone is closing from behind and looking to tackle or strip the ball from the BC????
ANY coach would bench ANY player who let someone tackle the BC from behind without turning to block them.

In that case there would be a lot of benching going on. lol I cant tell you how many times a ball carrier has been dragged down while running amongst a group of blockers. I can tell you that a coach will rip a player up one side and down another if they turn around and pick up a cheap penalty trying to throw a block for a player streaking towards the end zone.

They're (hopefully) not complaining because their blockers don't go back set cheap blocks on pursuers. I'm sure they're talking about when your running back is being chased down or the defender has the angle on him the blockers nearby should cut off that pursuit. You see it all the time, blockers escorting the runner downfield and picking off defenders who get close. That said though I HAVE seen that in the game. Plus you DO see blockers racing ahead in real life plenty of times so I don't think there's a particular issue with the game.

???
Do you even know anything about football?
You don't get penalties from blocking someone in the FRONT of their body. You get penalties from hitting them from behind.
At the very least you would fall in BEHIND your BC so pursuers cannot get to him.
But whatever, if you like faulty blocking logic that fine with me and you're just the kind of customer EA loves.

I know what you're talking about OP. But I feel as if they shouldn't turn around and block, they should just get out of the way. They tend to make it difficult if you break one down the sideline and don't have anyone to block.

And I know it happens in real life OCCASIONALLY, but it happens more than it should in the video game.

Re: EA MUST fix blocking AWR!!!

Dude, you act like a spoiled child who isnt getting his way!! lol. To answer your question....I know a lot about football......a whole lot. In real life, blockers dont stop and turnaround to start blocking pursuers. Typically the slow down and provide "shed" blocks. In a nut shell, they get in the way or provide a screen so to speak. In the demo Ive played about 30 games and tbis hasnt been a problem for me. My blockers have blocked and I havent been getting run down from behind once Ive broken free. Nobody else seems to be having this problem so Im sorry about your bad luck. Perhaps you arent hitting the.sprint button or you are pressing the cover button(which slows you down).

you can also get an uneccessary roughness penalty for blocking behind the play if you lay a cheap shot & the ref deems it uneccessary. downfield blockers are taught to look inside- check out some breakaway plays and you'll see blockers running inside of the ball carrier b/c that's where the defenders with an angle will be coming from. there are things that ea does wrong, but this is not one of them.
