I haven't looked at all the wildcat team specific formations, but is there really anything different then the base Wildcat (RB)/ Wildcat Spread (QB) that isn't just a different set of position subs? Or do some have specific plays missing?

I "think" Wildcat Trey is different. Clemson and Auburn have it that I know of.

There are a lot of different variations on Wildcat in certain playbooks.

Wildcat Trey is in Auburn/Clemson/ULM and a few others. It is unique but not that great.

There are a few Wildcat Ace, Wildcat Slot and Wildcat Tackle Over. Some teams like Nebraska, Louisville, Notre Dame have Wildcat that has read option and a few other plays.

There are some differences.

Notre dame's has a read option in it??

That's what I've been looking for.

I believe so. I know Nebraska's has Read Option in it as well.

Re: Wildcat Sets in Custom Playbooks

I need to just settle on a playbook tonight so I can start getting use to it... I know I want all the wing formations from shotgun, but most of them have the same pass plays over and over.

That was my problem last year in OD. I'd run out of Wing formations, but then switch to non-Wing gun formations to throw and it was obvious. Would have liked to see those formations get some better passing looks.

Well in terms of the rushing game, find the HB Dive in all the Flex Wing formations plus Spread Flex, it is easy money. Depending on your personnel, you can work jets and options and all of that in, but the Dive should be your base play.

For the passing game, hiding it is difficult. Last year I just ran this offense right at people, they knew what was coming and they had to stop it. The best bet for passing is quick hit plays, working the screens and all of that.

The biggest piece of advice is to learn all your quick audibles and carefully set your designed audibles. For example. Last year, SG Spread Flex had HB Dive as the quick run. Then I set Motion WR Option as my Square Audible. So I would call Read Option in the huddle, if the middle was open, quick check to the Dive. If the middle was stacked, audible to the Motion. You can run an entire offense off of audibles.

That is the biggest thing you can do to have success.
