Do you need to see out your contract before being offered another job in coaching carousel?

You can get offers anytime. Its actually a little screwy... Im the HC at Maryland, but every offseason, even when still in my contract, I keep getting offers from little Sunbelt and MAC schools to be their OC.

Yes, he's right. I was under a 3-year deal and got offered multiple jobs on the carousel. All you do is go to coach carousel. Haven't you ever noticed how other schools show up on unexpected offers? It's because they had someone leave a contract to take another job. They aren't unexpected if the position is already open by an expired contract.

You can get offers in any season, but I do think you get better offers when you are out of contract. At least that is the way it seems to me.

I'm glad the other people said yes, because I have a two year contract at Bowling Green, but Matt Schilz is a quarterback I'd love to develop, and that would take three years, so I think I'll extend my contract then leave after three years.
