Re: Is man align broken?

Have you tried doing it twice back-to-back? For some reason, I seem to remember this working for me a while back (maybe it was pre-PS3/360?) and then figured out that, by default, man align was on and selecting it the first time canceled it (hid the man-to-man matchups) and the second time activated it again.

It didn't make sense to me when I discovered it either, but it worked. Again, this might have been on last-gen. Just a thought...

Re: Is man align broken?

One thing I've noticed when I run my 3-3-5 defense, is that I'll often see the defense break the huddle with a man defense called, and BOTH SS's will be on one side. One will be on the slot, the other will be standing next to him, but his red line will connect to the slot or TE on the opposite side.

When this happens, it's the psychic DBs knowing that the offense is going to put that TE/slot in motion. I guess since EA isn't smart enough to code in DB reaction and follow, they make it so the DB is already there waiting for the motion to come to him.

Obviously, this can only really be done in offline, as a human opponent would likely just audible to a play that wouldn't have that motion, or would take advantage of that mis-alignment.

If you are talking about the way that plays from the 3-4 that have 1 of the safeties in Man and the other in zone (like the Weak/Strong/NCAA Blitz series), where the LB ends up on the slot and the safety tries to cover the TE or FB or some nonsense, then yeah, just Flip the play. For years I've been begging EA to put in some formation strength logic, but they've done nothing about it. I ain't holding my breath for it either, considering how long something as simple as Man Align has been broken.

Sadly, this applies to too many things in NCAA.

I don't want to flip the play because I specifically recruit my FS as a good zone coverage guy. I want him deep on every play playing zone.

I would suggest using the Safety Swap package, but you would have no way of knowing which side of the field the WR's would be on pre-snap. What you should do is find a play that would allow your FS to stay in zone and the remainder of the DB's to line up properly that you can audible to if the offense comes out in that.

I would recommend something in straight Dime but there will always be the risk of not having the defense aligned right. You have to be flexible on D, the game doesn't leave you any choice.

How do you flip a play on defense?
