Squib Kicks?

The play in the playbook doesn't really yield the results you'd like to see from a squib kick.

Basically the squib in the game is only useful if you don't want the other team to return the kick for a TD. They are still going to get the ball aorund the 40 or better and barely any time is going to come off the clock.

The upbacks are able to catch the ball while it is still in the air, so there isn't even a high rate of bobbling the catch which causes the clock to start and delays their ability to advance the ball upfield.

The most I've gotten to come off the clock is 4 seconds, and I've only managed that once. I can't change the angle of the kick so there is no way to get the ball to hit the ground before one of the upbacks catches it.

Does anyone have any tips on how to set up the kick on a regular kickoff to get the approximation of a squib?

Pretty much worthless. I usually just kickoff normally except add max height and half power. Works better.

Re: Squib Kicks?

Everytime I try squib kicks, its recovered right away by some lineman who runs for like 10 yards then gets hit sticked right on his *** by one of my defenders, usually around the 40 or 50.

I loved it and used it all the time vs. Dangerous return men but I don't touch it anymore unless there's only a couple seconds left

I do this as well works great when you don't care about field position you just trying avoid a big return.

Special teams needs a lot of attention, and it has for a long time. Kicking field goals is too easy, punts and field goals need to be blocked every once in awhile, etc.
