Using chew clock to keep your opponent from ever touching the ball...

Well, almost. I just had a player run chew clock on me the whole game.

To start the game, I kicked off to him. He then proceeded to run the same money run up the gut every time with the occasional slant pass sprinkled in. I got the ball back with less than a minute remaining in the first half and was not able to score. I scored to start the second half and never saw the ball again.

Ridiculous.

Its annoying, but its a strategy just like the no huddle. How was his run a glitch?

Ugh, what? He had the ball for 9 minutes. Let's translate that to real time, using ratios. That's a 27 minute drive. The NCAA record is just over 14 minutes.

Also, the same play over and over, to me = glitch. Whether it's a run, a pass, a screen, the option, etc.

He must have converted like every third down. I don't see how it would be so difficult to stop a run up the middle if its not a glitch.

It's called "money plays."

But they don't. 5 minute quarters were chosen for this game because it most simulated a full game... if you don't run chew clock.

Well, what were you running on defense? Did you pinch your DL? Try A-gap blitzes with your linebackers? A guy running dives all game shouldn't be THAT hard to stop.

It's a solid strategy on that guy's part. He knows it will get to people's heads and it obviously got to your's. No different than the ole four corners offense in basketball. I did a similar tactic in College Hoops 2k8 when I played online. Milked the clock on offense to under 5 seconds on the shot clock and find a high percentage shot near the hoop. Always received a friendly message after my victories
