I'm not sure, but I think when he said lack of speed he meant that the defensive players were able to run at a faster pace than the offensive players leading to a lack of big plays, etc.

EXACTLY! Thank you, that is exactly my point. I'm not talking about slowdown. I'm talking about speed of offensive players vs. speed of defensive players. AlphaBETA says defense is unrealistically faster. Yet GI videos show otherwise.

And I'm just wondering why.

i bleive i remember him saying that he has had the beta for 2 weeks so he probably has an earlier version that is not as polished and has quite a few glitches.

AlphaBETA probably does have an old (2-weeks ago BETA) version. So why didn't he put a disclaimer, ie, "I noticed this was wrong, but it could be just my version since newer videos are showing otherwise..."

The way he writes, he's plenty intelligent enough for that...

I just can't wait to get my grubby hands on this game regardless of the speed concerns.

Re: Observations on AlphaBETA\'s impressions...

After watching IGN's most recent movie again, the game looks fine. Plus, i doubt IGN has had it for longer than 2 weeks because they probably gota version after the game went gold. I think the gamelay will be just fine becuase a minute into the movie a receiver cathes it in the middle of the field and sprints to the left sideline and picks up like 15 YAC because the CB can't keep up with him. A Safety or a CB who dropped back tackles him, so i think this puts the speed concerns to rest. ALso, he blocking looks really good in this videa

Re: Observations on AlphaBETA\'s impressions...

Perhaps it depends on the situation as to when the off players get caught. If they haven't picked up a full head of steam yet, and aren't in a footrace down the field, then you SHOULD see RBS and WRS getting caught by LBs and DL.
(as if LBs never tackle RBs in 'real' football... so yeah, the game could be right on if the LBs are nabbing RBs that AREN'T in a footrace)

I haven't seen the IGN video...but one thing I can tell you guys from having been in game development (for EA, as a matter of fact). Once the game is BETA, there is NO GAMEPLAY TUNING going on. Whatever this alpha guy has, should be damn near Final. Text bugs, crashes, etc. would be about the only things left on a Beta build.

Duh.

He's right.

You didn't know that?

FWIW - I'm betting this speed issue is overblown and it won't be a problem.
