I don't believe that it is illegal to contact a prospect if they contact you.

I think schools can only make contact when a player is released from his scholarship at the current school.

I know this is a basketball example, but this recently happened at Arkansas in regards to Moe Hargrow, who transfered from Minnesota and spent the spring semester at the UA.

Well, Hargrow was having personal problems and was considering going BACK to Minnesota (without ever having played for the Hogs). Arkansas released Hargrow from his scholarship so Minnesota could make contact... at least that's how it was worded.

Now, if a player at SChool X contacts a coach at School Z, I suppose the coach can talk to the kid, but not sure if he can 'officially' recruit him.

Re: IGN and Transfers

I would be willing to bet that no really good players will transfer, except your really good players.

Re: IGN and Transfers

I agere with Greenevol. It most likely will be that possible transfer prospects will be included in the recruiting process.

I would think that players who might transfer out, would be similar to trying to convince a player not to turn pro.

IMO that'd be stupid if you could convince a transfer to stay, once the dude has transfered or set his intentions to transfer he should be gone and you should lose him. If that's not the case then it's not much of a risk to sit their [censored] on the pine if you can just convince em to stay once they threaten to transfer. IMO you should have to make a sign or showing of interest on the playing field, if they are uncontent heading into the off-season they should be good as gone.

By the way this is not meant to diss what anyone said in the thread, just my thoughts on it.
