FAU and FIU are both 1-A teams

Finnally got confirmation on this from the video scrolling through all teams. Its says "select 1-A team" and while scrolling through...sure enough there they are. So now there are 119 Division I-A teams.

were they 1-AA last year or did they come from D2 but boths ways that is a tough jump for a school

FAU and FIU were both Division I-A indepentent teams last year. They were not on NCAA 2004. They are playing a Sun Belt Conference schedule this year but are not officially Sun Belt teams yet, from what I understand. However, EA has them listed as a I-A team, which is fine because they have to go through a probationary period of one year to become full members of the Sun Belt. Don't quote me on all that but I think that's how it works. The bottom line is EA has them in the game as I-A teams, I'm sure they're in the Sun Belt and that's all that matters.

They probably made them independents since that what they will be in real life this year.

Yup, on one of the maddenmania videos where they show All-Conference teams there are plenty of FIU players listed.
