Injuries in Dynasty Mode

Just wanted to get some feedback from you guys on what you do about the lack of injuries in dynasty mode...

So I'm playing my Pitt dynasty (link in signature) and have essentially no injuries. I figure there are a few ways to get injuries into the game, either by modifying the injury ratings of all the players on my team down significantly, by manufacturing injuries through some sort of lottery/dice roll, or just playing with no injuries and accepting it.

Just wanted to know which route you guys find to be the best and most enjoyable for you? This will help me decide for myself how to attack this issue as well. Thanks!

Re: Injuries in Dynasty Mode

Check out this thread for lots of good info:

https://forums.operationsports.com/f...-injuries.html

Here's my current settings, gets me plenty of injuries, including an average of one season-ending injury per year, which is realistic imo:

Offense:
QB (-30)
HB/FB (-25)
TE (-30)
WR (-40)
OLINE (-80)

Defense:
Dline (-80)
LB (-70)
DB's (-40)
P/K (-60)

Injuries in Dynasty Mode

i see a decent amount of injuries occurring but they’re usually minor, and the player can return to the game. so what i started doing was taking those little injuries and making them more severe using the editor.

so say a player leaves temporarily with a minor knee injury.. i sideline him and may turn that injury into a torn ACL. sounds extreme but otherwise, what are the odds of it ever happening?

of course i don’t always go that extreme, though. usually i’ll apply injuries that may sideline the player 2-3-4 weeks

Love that you've got it down to a general formula here. I'll probably take this verbatim, since from reading that other thread you linked you seemed to have put some testing/thought into this. If I see too many/too little injuries with your settings I will then correct from there.

Thanks for the input!

I see you've scaled up from your settings in your other thread. I was working off your other ones and was about to do the same! Going to start doing it with my next recruiting class coming in.

Yes, I have gradually lowered my player's injury ratings at most positions. Makes seasons more difficult, and I'm always worried about and wondering who might go down for multiple weeks, or the remainder of a season. To me it adds to the drama and realism.

I follow Alabama football closely, and you can just about count on at least one season-ending injury every season, and that's either a starter or significant contributor, and I mean that literally. This year IRL, Bama has already lost Terrell Lewis for the season (torn elbow ligament), who was our most promising and explosive edge rusher. In the same opening game, we lost our sam linebacker, Christian Miller (torn bicep), likely for the season as well. This past weekend, we lost our senior Dlineman, Da'Shawn Hand for at least a few weeks due to a knee injury.

Re: Injuries in Dynasty Mode

This is great. Do you guys also have a tip to get more non-QB fumbles in the game?

Two things that I do that seems to affect my RB's fumbles:
  1. I subtract 36 from all my HB's carry rating.
  2. I hold the belief that a player is more likely to fumble when very fatigued. I play with fatigue turned on, and I subract 15 from stamina to most of my players. But I can have my lead back hit low to mid 30's totes per game before he gasses out.

I looked back the past several seasons and my 1st string back averages 2-3 fumbles per season, with a low of 1 and the worst year a guy had 6.

Also I have my RB ability slider set at 20, and I play on AA.
