new career: re-sign players in first off-season?
Hi
Apologies if this is answered elsewhere (I have been checking, but this being such a great forum also means a LOT of threads to check!)
Just got the game (never played the previous version) - starting a New career, but from the OFF-Season.
Question: Is it possible to re-sign (or at least make offers to) those players on my roster whose contracts have expired (i.e. 0 years left on their contract)? My problem is right at the start of my career, trying to hold onto some of my 85-95 rated veterans.
I've tried selecting players from the Roster, but the only options during the off-season (at least this initial off-season in Career mode) are Release and Edit. No option to Re-sign or Offer Contract. I lost 10 players to Free Agency as a result, including at least 5 starters to whom I would have offered a contract.
Is it simply a reflection of the NFL rules on contracts expiring, i.e. does a New Career start "too late" in the off-season to re-sign those players with 0 years left? Or am I just looking in the wrong place?
TIA - any help much appreciated, and so far I love this game and this forum
