    Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Bethesda Game Studios is hard at work on the fifth game in the Elder Scrolls series, according to a new report.

I don't know if it's official, but it seems Todd Howard is finally telling us we get more Elder Scrolls...

said the technology was derived from the engine that powered Fallout 3
Ugh. That whole engine is so outdated, bloated, buggy and decrepit. Keeping a decade old game engine together with bits of string and used gum doesn't work. I was hoping one of the reasons they bought id was because they were using id Tech 5.

They can't seriously be using Gamebryo again, right? RIGHT?

They used the Fallout 3 engine but improved it greatly, so that it's almost a whole new engine.

I'll believe it when I play it and it doesn't have any of the faults the Gamebryo engine has.

Excuse my cynicism, but I detest this engine, and am baffled by the decision to use it again.

What faults does gamebyro have? I didn't get Fallout 3, but it was supposedly better than Oblivion, and people loved it, so why not improve on it?

As long as it's not set in Cyrodil, since then it would be the same game except different graphics story and weps. A direct sequel to Morrowind would be better received.

But people need to calm down about the animations. They'll prob be much improved. Just improve third person... god that was terrible. And make more weapons and armour.

Riiight, they've had 8 years and three dev cycles to improve Gamebryo and it still has all the faults it has had since the beginning. There's a reason why Emergent is now bankrupt and looking to sell off assets, the only peiople clinging to that old POS is Bethesda.

I really hope it's not true that they're using the same engine. It was fine back when the 360 first came out but they need to move onto something better.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)

Why is everybody whining about the engine? Oblivion is still 1 of the most beautiful games I have for my 360. There are a couple of glitches here and there, but that's in almost every game.

Plus they're improving it. The graphics are supposed to be crazily amped up from the last game, which is pretty good. They just need slightly better character models. And it better not be in Cyrodiil. And if it is, have something happen like in the upcoming WOW expansion. Make something happen so the face of the game is different (except not like nuclear radiation esq thing).

I have my hopes up high. Also for their other game, I think it's called Rage. Bethesda is on a role

Oblivion really doesn't look that good anymore and the animation is horrible.
