did you play Morrowind on Xbox or PC?

the interface of Morrowind was more geared toward PC gamers while Oblivion was more towards the Console. I played both of those games on both PC and console, maybe that is why I like Morrowind more(not counting mods either)

for the most part I loved the things about Morrowind better. there were things that Oblivion improved on(besides the visuals), but at the same time they took some things away and/or made it too console friendly. Oblivion's story wasn't very good at all, and very short to me. Mods made Oblivion better and made it last longer for me.

I didn't think that we would see a new ES game during this generation of consoles, usually there is only one ES game per generation. The longer life cycle of these console has caused/allowed a change in the M.O. of many developers/publishers.

In theory the subsequent games should be far more polished do to the complete familiarly with the hardware, in theory.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

LMAO, "usually". There's only been 2 of the 6 game series released on a console, and one of them was a late XBox port pushed by MS causing the game to be delayed. Prior to Morrowind there was Arena in '92, Daggerfall in '94, Battlespire in '97 and redguard in '98.

One game does not make a trend.

Dude, it was Arena in 94, Daggerfall in 96, Morrowind in 2002 and Oblivion in 2006, then most likely V in 2011.

yeah, my dates were off on those two, but you forgot Battlespire and Redguard.

I didn't even mention any of the Travels games as I never played them.

I did too. Morrowind, played it for 100 hours got right to the end, and my wife deleted my save by accident. We used to have a saying in out house, "Don't Morrowind me!"

I don't get why people like Morrowind more than Oblivion. I hear people constantly complaining about the non-user friendly interface, the complete lack of direction at the beginning of the game, and the combat.

I'm not bashing Morrowind since I've never played it and therefore I've no right to say Oblivion is better than it, but why is it better?

Hopefully Elder Scrolls V will be better than them all! As long as there's no Oblivion gates again... and if there are THEY WILL BE MUCH FUNNER... or else... dun dun dunnnnn

I really hope it comes out soon as in during the winter months. That's the best time to spend thousands of hours gaming.

I'm not really sure how to explain it. other than Oblivion's graphics, improve combat and dialog and maybe the AI, Morrowind is just better to me.

I liked the story better, it is a little slow at first, but it does pick up. more varied landscape(although the poor graphics doesn't make it look good), more variety of weapons, Armor, and spells(spears, Medium armor, and Levitation to name a few).

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe there are a lot more quest/activities to do in Morrowind as well(although the strategy guides look about the same size, so maybe not).

I didn't have a problem with Morrowind's interface on the PC version, I actually liked it better than Oblivion(with the exception to the Alchemy screen which sucked). I can see how it would be bad for console gamers though.

for the most part, Oblivion feels slimmed down, or simplified when compared to Morrowind. for people that played Oblivion first and then try to play Morrowind, they probably wouldn't like Morrowind at all.
