The character movement is a lot more natural looking. Admittedly I prefer to play in the first-person view, but I did spend some time in 3rd person while wandering around last night, and it's a major upgrade from how I remember it being in Oblivion.

That's good to hear, did you try any combat in it by chance?

Sorry, I haven't tried out combat in 3rd person. When I get back at it tonight, I will switch to 3rd person and give it a shot, though.

Is the combat in 1st person any more strategic than Oblivion?

Strategic? The way I play, combat involves blocking incoming attacks with my shield and slicing away with my sword. I'm not sure how strategic that is, but it's quite effective (lol). And I've yet to encounter anything that requires more thought than that.

If you could perhaps shed some light on what you consider strategic combat, then I could possibly provide a better answer.

I was just wondering if it was more complex than two button fighting (block and slash). It doesn't really seem like it. I wasn't expecting much more than that, but I'm disappointed with the entire video game industry for dropping the ball on medieval combat. They are still stuck in the NES days with combat with the lone exception that I can think of being Mount and Blade Warband where you can aim attacks and blocks.

Certainly sword fighting wasn't just block and then hack away, so why is that how its portrayed in video games?

I watched just enough to get a taste. Looks amazing. Any word on which console version this leak was from?

Oh, and some of the comments for the video are hilarious. Just nonstop complaining. SMH.

                      That's the 360 version I believe.

I haven't noticed any real slowdown anywhere. Everything seems to run pretty smooth so far.

I played last night exclusively in 3rd person, including completing my first side quest and dungeon. After trying it out more, I'm really impressed. The view is much closer to your character, almost right over their shoulder. The camera pans back once you draw your weapon, making combat much easier to follow. I might actually stick with this view for a while.

The only issue I have with playing in third person is that it can be difficult to spot and pick up some items in tight spaces. I actually switched back to 1st person in order to take a good look around once I had cleared an area to make sure I hadn't missed anything.

I watched maybe 2-3 minutes of the 2nd video trying to avoid spoilers. Was it me or was the graphics/textures horrible in that video?
