I know we've talked about pitchers in the draft having ridiculous stat lines... Well, here's my entry into that.

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***

Hey guys, as a prospective OOTP player, can you answer some of my questions?

1. I play a lot of FM... is this game set up like that? Do stats go up to 20, like in FM?
2. How do game simulations work?
3. How do you download real logos?
4. How long can a career last?
5. Can you relocate franchises?

Thanks,
Dynastium

1. There are multiple options for displaying player ratings. No ratings, 1-5, 2-8, 1-10, 1-20, 20-80, or 1-100.
2. Not sure exactly what you're asking or how to answer.
3. There's an option in the main game menu for accessing 3rd party add-ons. The "All-in-one" mod is essential for the real MLB setup.
4. As long as you want, or as long as your machine can keep up with the growing size of the saved game (similar to FM in this regard)
5. Yes, primarily a cosmetic change.

Re: ***The Official OOTP Thread***

Recently got 14. Started a career with the Yankees. Year 1 struggled and wen 80-82, narrowly avoided being fired. Resigned Cano and then tried to build around him, dumping as many contracts as I could for young guys, and sticking to short term mid level free agents. Year 2 expectations were low but had a surprising season going 88-75, tied for the 2nd wildcard, won the one game playoff to get the wildcard, but then lost the first round 1 game playoff. Year 3 I was loaded with young talent and a ton of budget room, but the FA class was terrible. I tried to avoid dumb contracts and just signed a few stop gap guys, but it backfired for me, the team struggled, and at 55-61 I was fired.

Took over the Cubs in 2016. Of course, now all the young talent I acquired for the Yankees is developing, and it was a loaded FA class and they signed all the top guys, and they have the best record in baseball. I am 47-55 with the Cubs, in a transition year.

Thanks for the response!

What I was asking with Q.2 was how would a game between, say, the Cubs and Yankees work? In FM, there is a 3-D game engine. Does OOTP have a sort of game engine to visualize the game? Or is everything in box scores and text?

It's mostly text. There is a crude graphical representation of what's going on, but it's pretty much terrible. This game works better as a GM sim as opposed to a Manager sim IMO.

If you're looking for something as engaging and immersive as FM, you won't find it here. The depth is there, but OOTP doesn't create the interactive "world" that FM does. The user interface is also poor in comparison. Not saying that OOTP is a poor game, it's just not as polished.

I have a question about this game..

I started as the Cubs and Soler started on the DL, well when he came off I sent him back to the minors because he is still a 1-star. And his face "emotion" thing got mad.

So how do I keep players happy?

I'm playing on the App by the way, not sure if that matter.

I was contemplating buying OOTP14 for my intro to the series, but I decided to try OOTP 8 first before putting money into it. My first thought after I started a game with the Yankees was holy ****, this is in-depth. It definitely takes some time to get used to the interface.
