I pick Thanksgiving, and while I watched football, I pick Thanksgiving over the NBA Christmas day games, because of all the college basketball tourneys, thruout the week of Thanksgiving.

Re: OS Roundtable: What Major Sport Does Holidays the Best?

I thought college football did it the best 35 years ago with the New Years day bowls. At that time we didn't haven't wall to wall football every Saturday and Sunday....so New Years day was special in that respect. And the best games were played on that day. If you rolled out of bed by noon, you were just in time for the Cotton and Fiesta Bowls. Then was the Rose Bowl. And then at night you flipped back and forth between the Orange (and it's extra long halftime show) and Sugar. Of course they watered all that down years ago.

I do enjoy the NBA Christmas day games, but I find it hard to get too excited for early season NBA games. MLB does some things for July 4th....but summer holidays are a different animal.

So for me, I guess the NFL Thanksgiving would still be tops. I'll also give honorable mention for the NHL Winter Classic.

NBA on Christmas Day is favorite no doubt! Even though it’s early in the season we tend to get some pretty good games on Christmas. By the holidays the rust has worn off and teams are usually playing some elite basketball. And the NBA usually gives us pretty good matchups *to enjoy. I’d say only I don’t like are those God awful Christmas uniforms , they are terrible!!!*

love pro football on Thanksgiving, pro basketball on Christmas and college football on New Year's Day. having said that, now time to top it off with some shade-tossing: baseball doesn't need a holiday to prop it up. if I had baseball on Thanksgiving Christmas and New Year's Day, I wouldn't need an NFL Thanksgiving or a NBA Christmas. I'd still need college football on NYD though. NYD w/o college football would be like a November w/o Thanksgiving or a December w/o Christmas
