"Sports games are an annual occurrence. In the spring consumers get baseball games, summer brings golf games along with college and professional football games. Then, in the fall, the basketball and hockey games arrive. However, what separates the good games that are played for a few weeks or months, from those games that truly achieve legendary status? These are the games that are played long after they are released, at least until the next version is released a year later, but possibly for even longer than that. I will be discussing mainly baseball games here, but the aspects of a truly great game, a career mode, gameplay, artificial intelligence and sound, apply to all sports games." |
