What we need is competition. That is the only way games will continue to improve and get better. They can take 3 years off it doesn't mean every single legacy issue will be corrected and every detail will work as advertised. Unless there is fear of losing sales to a competitor their is no real incentive to try their hardest. This isn't a knock on EA either, every develop experiences this when they have a lock on a genre. MLB the Show has become stale, NBA 2K had their micro transaction fiasco last year, Tiger Woods Golf became a yearly fresh coat of paint with few free courses.

I would like to see every other year for certain releases... but in the off-years, release a lot of DLC goodies like the current season, classic seasons, classic stadiums ballparks arenas, uniform packs, things like an olympics add-on for NHL, World Cup for FIFA, draft classes for Madden, you name it the sky is the limit.
