Paris FC Appoint Unknown Manager for 2015/16

PARIS - The 2015/16 campaign for Paris FC was already going to be a notable season for the club as the capital city side achieved promotion to Ligue 2 after a 2nd place finish in the Championnat National in 2014/15. Apparently, that wasn't interesting enough for the board of directors as they shocked everyone around French football by appointing an unknown, 30-year-old American to be the club's new manager. That man is southernmetalhead, and there is not much anyone knows about this peculiar choice, except for the fact that this is his first real coaching gig.

"I know a lot of you are thinking, 'Who is this guy? Is this some kind of joke?'", metalhead said at his introduction. "Not at all. I've been brought in to put this club on the map, and that's what I intend to do. It won't be an overnight success, but I am confident it will be a success. There are a lot of challenges for us, but this club wants to obtain worldwide recognition like our city neighbors, Paris Saint-Germain. That's the long-term objective."

Considering Paris FC have not played in Ligue 1 since 1978/79, it seems outrageous that this band of minnows is shooting at the 3-time defending champions PSG, but in a city like Paris, everything is bigger than life. Still, just cold-hard economics say this will be a long road. Where PSG practically has unlimited funds under the Qatar Sports Investment group, Paris FC is rumoured to have a remaining budget of around €800,000 with a meager €6,000 available for weekly wages. That's not even enough to buy a dinner for Zlatan Ibrahimović. In fact, that's not even one of the more well-funded clubs in Ligue 2.

Despite these obvious hindrances, metalhead announced that he is expected to fight for promotion immediately and added, "Oh, I absolutely believe we can be a contender right off the bat." That doesn't mean you will see Paris FC in Ligue 1 in 2016/17, but there probably won't be a lot of patience for this outsider manager who most of France feels is woefully under qualified to be leading a project like this.
