NEWCASTLE UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB, PREMIER LEAGUE
Summer Signings: Arrivals and Departures Recap #1
AUGUST 1, 2021
Newcastle were busy adding depth to their squad this summer, purging some young talent around the Premier League in Harvey Elliot and Conor Gallagher, who joins on loan, while attracting veteran defenders to the club.
•
Connor Gallagher • Accepted a one year loan at Newcastle with the Magpies having the possibility of buying the midfielder at the price of £40M next summer. With Gallagher's current trajectory and with his potential at his age could be a possible bargain.
•
Layvin Kurzawa • £4.4m from PSG. The 28-year old left back agreed to a 3 year contract worth £50K per week. His signing bonus was worth around £200k and 25 clean sheets would net him a further £2M in bonuses. Likely to replace Matt Richie as the starting left back, since he’s rumoured to have an “important role”.
•
Harvey Elliot • A surprise signing, as Liverpool accepted the £8m offer for the 18-year old winger, who like Gallagher struggled to crack the first team but has a tone of potential. According to reports, he’s accepted a 5 year deal worth £25k per week. A signing bonus of £165k will help him settle into Newcastle and he can earn a further £200k if he nets 15 goals.
•
Toby Alderweireld • Alderweireld signed on a free transfer, given he was a free agent. Will likely start with Lascelles at centre back, joining ex-teammate Kieran Trippier at St James’.
•
Jamal Lewis • With the imminent arrival of Kurzawa, Newcastle has accepted a £5m bid from Burnley for the 23-year old left wing back, who will be looking to restart his career with Burnley.
