Predict where Dirk ends up...

Firstly, Dirk will not ask for a trade. Way, way too classy.

But...Cuban actually went on the record (when he thought he had Jordan) stating the Mavs plan B is to tank.

He elaborated in detail as to why tanking is a good option this season...pointing out the west is loaded and the bottom teams from last year all look like improving. I.e. a really bad team could tank successfully next season.

Read here:

Problem = Dirk on that team with Matthews and Chandler = they won't be 'bad enough' to get what Cuban wants. So, he has inadvertently basically shown his hand. He is going to tank...and that means Dirk will be traded...

So, where to? Final piece on a contender obviously. Who has the pieces to give Dallas what they want (expiring deals / players who can be cut / draft picks) AND send Dirk somewhere respectable? (No way Cubes dumps him to a crap organization).

Any team fit the criteria?

Re: Predict where Dirk ends up...

He would fit in well with Houston.

Dirk has a no trade clause though and i still doubt that he would want to be traded but idk.

Yep, absolutely no way Dirk asks to be traded bro. Way too classy.

But Cubes has, literally, stated the tank is on.

And you can't do that successfully with Dirk playing.

Houston would be a great fit...and probably put them over the top.

A stretch 4 is exactly what they need.

Cuban and the Rockets have a really, really bad relationship though.

Ha, he would fit well in Houston but don't both FO hate each other? Maybe Toronto.

Re: Predict where Dirk ends up...

Full quote from Mark Cuban:

“We literally had the discussion, if we couldn’t get a serious free agent whether it was one of the other guys out there or one of the earlier ones that went, that it was time to take a step back. The reason why we thought this year versus other years was simple math. Over the last few years, there was a race to the bottom with six or seven teams trying to have the worst record, but most of those teams have improved themselves significantly through the draft or free agency or both, or just getting older and playing longer together, like an Orlando.

“This year, there aren’t going to be six teams in the race to the bottom, particularly in the Western Conference…Because there are only going to be two or three teams in the race to the bottom, we said okay, this could be our David Robinson year. We go out and get somebody that we think we can develop as opposed to an impact player. We take our lumps and have lots of cap room and we do lots of trades to add lots of draft picks, because draft picks, with the way the cap is going are going to increase in value significantly. Fortunately, that didn’t happen.”

Fortunately it didn't happen = well, it has happened.

Re: Predict where Dirk ends up...

How/Why would a 50 win team tank, especially when they don't even own their own 1st round pick(assuming they don't finish in bottom 7).

Don't see Raptors having much interest in him. They have big pieces that could be moved(potential 2016 lottery pick from Knicks or Nuggets, along with their own 1st rounders in 2016/2017 and Clippers 1st rounder in 2017), but if those pieces were moved,it'd be for someone like 10+ years younger.

If someone wants him, they know it'd be a rental player type thing. He has 1 year on his contract before player option. If he's not with Mavs, then I for sure see him opting out of his option and just going all in for the money.
