Jags Cut Fred Taylor

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/s...=ESPNHeadlines

Quote:
"We felt like the best thing for this football team is what it has to be about," Del Rio said. "We feel good about the talented group of backs that we have ... and as you work through it, it's difficult to come up with a role that's going to be acceptable for everybody.

"It makes it awkward. It makes it difficult. We came to an agreement on what the best course of action was as a football team."

And that was to move on without Taylor, who ranks 16th on the NFL's all-time rushing list with 11,271 yards, 81 behind John Riggins.
That's a shame. I felt like he deserved something from Jacksonville. I know the cap space will be nice, but, he should have been able to take second fiddle behind MJD and made some things happen.

But, what is, is, I suppose.

The Jags cut there leading rusher of all time

The jags today cut my favorite rb probably ever in fred taylor its not gonna right seeing him in another uniform other then the jags i think the jags really did him poorly this year with giving mdj all those goal line carries while fred didnt even get 2! kinda made fred look avg i know he will find a job with another team i think the cards or maybe a team from florida like the bucs could use him also.

Yeah, although I like Fred Taylor, I can't say I'm surprised, given his injury history and that 6 mil he was due next year, he had to know it was coming.

I don't think you'll need to worry about that...

Why?

Taylor said he doesn't want to retire and the Jags have said they have no intention of signing him even at a reduced rate.

Sad move, but in today's NFL, c'est la vie.

Poor Freddy can't get any love; never got into the pro-bowl and was only seleceted for his first 2 years ago b/c of an injury replacement...I'm sure he'll find another home - I'm thinking since he's not too far removed from that monster season he still has a lot left in the tank
