Football Players Named "Peter"

It's a long running joke that guys named "Peter" don't play football...lol

So few in fact, that some coaches have players yell "PETER" when the ball is on the ground or when a snap is botched on FG/XP/Punt attempts because there isn't anyone on the field with that name - making it a good signal to alert everyone on the field to something.

So I looked up football players named Peter and found these:

Peter Boulware (Ravens)
Peter Warwick (Bengals)
Peter Sirmon (Titans)

During the 2010 season, there weren't any NFL players named Peter. But there were 3 players named Pierre (Garcon, Thomas, and another guy I can't think of right now).

Historically - how many NFL players named "Peter" are there?

12 in almost 90 years is incredible!

That settles it... If I ever have a son, no way I'm naming him Peter. LOL

Just ran thru the list and of the 12, 7 of the players named Peter were in the league for just 1 year.

Of the 5 that played longer than 1 year, 3 went to Florida State (Boulware LB, Warwick WR, Willis QB). One went to Oregon (Sirmon LB). The other went to Michigan State (Clifford OT).

Just in case anyone is ever on Jeopardy and has this question. LOL

Peter Boulware was a HELL of a player for more than half a decade until injuries shortened his career.
