NFL to sign new TV Deal with Fox/CBS/NBC

SBJ is reporting the NFL is close to extending their contracts with Fox/NBC/CBS for a combined worth of over 24 Billion Dollars over a 8 year deal.

Under the new deal it's possible NBC will be able to get flex games earlier in the season and the NFL has the rights to pull games from CBS and FOX as part of a "new" Thursday Night Football Cable package (probably going to NBC Sports Network).

I don't think the gravy train is going to end anytime soon.

I'd imagine if you get Versus, you'll get it. NBCSN is the new name of Versus starting in January.

If I understand your question correctly the answer is no. The Thursday Night Package won't have the flex option like SNF.

I'm not a fan of more Thursday night games. I miss most of them because I am already spread so thin as is.

Re: NFL to sign new TV Deal with Fox/CBS/NBC

The NFL has come a long way since CBS paid $4.65 Million to telecast games for the 1961 season. Of course there were only 14 teams back then.

This is what led to the AFL-NFL merger:*

1961: CBS pays $4.65 million to telecast NFL games.
1964: CBS pays $14.1 million to telecast NFL games.
1965: NBC pays $36 million to telecast AFL games.*
