Both the Tom Landry and Al Davis episodes from last year were excellent. If you style yourself a fan of either the Cowboys or Raiders they are must see.

The McNair episode has started.

The McNair episode was just sad man. When it went to the latter part of the doc and started talking about the murder-suicide I just kept mumbling under my breath why...why...why...why.

I just went back and bought the Reggie White and Jerome Brown episode on iTunes. After hearing how good it was i had to see it. Talk about a tearjerker. Unbelievable, those two.

In my sports world, that time period with Eddie George and Steve McNair was the pinnacle (so far) of my Titans fandom. Eddie was great, but Steve just was on a whole new level man.

There were a lot of roller-coasters with this team then, and it was an incredible ride, with McNair @ the helm. Ray Lewis called him a warrior, and that was the best description of him.

That documentary took me through that ride again, if only for a short time. And it was a glorious 45 minutes (although 45 minutes doesn't do enough justice to exemplify his toughness and brilliance, but it's an hour program, I understand!).

And then, they got to his death, and I don't think I've ever came away from a football doc with the emtions I had after that one. Just, anger and confusion and despair. I felt so bad for his family, especially his children, who only really got to know him a short time.

He made a mistake, yes. But a mistake like that wasn't worth his life, and in the fashion it was took, just sickening. It's shame that he is now an example for what NOT to do for these athletes (though 98 % will still do it).

Athletes/celebrities ARE NOT and SHOULD NOT be role models. And perhaps that's what angers me the most. As was alluded to in the program, whenever I talk to my son about how great McNair was, what do I say when we get to the end?

I also bought it as soon as it was available. Both of them were really before my time, but that episode was just so great IMO

I still have an Eddie George replica jersey hanging in my closet, bought in 1999. I was a fan of that Titans franchise because of McNair and George too. I felt the same exact emotions as you after watching that, and I felt grief for his kids because they just smiled and their faces lit up when they talked about him. That definitely was a tough one. . . . .
