New York Islanders...

Are these guys finally playoff bound?

I got a soft spot for em', I am officially on the bandwagon. If they can just make it to the post season, anything is possible. Love that about hockey, the playoffs reset everything.

Re: New York Islanders...

Man, as a long time Isles fan this is great stuff, I hope we get in, we are very hot right now and I think we can give some teams a scare if we get in.

Haven't felt this way about my Hockey team i a long time.

I could see the Isles going far this year, tbh. they started out slow but it seems like they got their stuff together and are doing really well now.

Re: New York Islanders...

Winnipeg is in a tie for 8th and plays in the easy Southeast with 3 games left in the division, so the Islanders have to win on Saturday to give them some room on the Rangers. Nothing is set in stone yet with just 2 points on 9th place.

Now, if they are to get in, depends on who they play. If they wind up with the #8, I don't get them much of a chance against Pittsburgh. Yes, I know LA last year, but Pittsburgh is not 2012 Vancouver. 7 games against Montreal maybe; Montreal has had its ups and downs this year. Get up to the #6, and now there is a chance to move, although Washington is starting to get it together.

I hope they don't get the Canadiens. I like them too.

Re: New York Islanders...

I thought that once they got Lubomir in the offseason, they would have a good shot at the playoffs if they got reliable goaltending. When Lubomir came in late from the KHL, I thought they might fall short, but it seems like they are heating up at the right time. Garth Snow gets no love, but I think he's done a great job finding guys on the scrap heap and getting use out of them. If only the Isles had a better owner.

Frans Nielsen is the most underrated player in the NHL.

Does Grabner get 1 or 2 breakaways a game like he used to? I remember he always had couple a game, but he never scored.
