In happier news, Russell Wilson has partnered with the group trying to get NBA/NHL team in Seattle. Hope that can help them out. With Coyotes now staying, maybe we can get an expansion+ relocation in future. Quebec City and Seattle. One gets expansion, other gets a relocating team like the Canes.
Your disdain for hockey in Phoenix has been well documented. I do find it a bit ironic that the newly annointed savior of the Leafs franchise was produced mainly because of hockey's existence in Phoenix.

It's not hate for city itself or anything, it's hate more for NHL/Bettmans love for a struggling market. When Winnipeg or QC had to be moved, he had no issue doing so. When Coyotes have struggled worse in past decade than any of the major sports teams, he does whatever he can to keep it there, even if they're losing millions of dollars.

I feel so bad for this dude. He had such a bright career then had it all taken away by one *******. If not for him (the *******) we would have more than one cup since the 70's.

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

Sucks to see in NHL in general how many good players get injured and have their careers altered so much because of it. Savards career ends cause of it, Stamkos career looking like it won't ever be the same again, and of course Lindros and how his career took such a big hit too. People were even doubting if Crosby would ever be the same after his stuff a few years ago.

NHL is obviously such a dangerous spot, obviously alot more than NBA or MLB, but sucks they aren't able to find a way to make the game truly safer, without reducing quality of gameplay for fans and players.

Obviously don't take it so serious since it's from a french-canadian radio station, but you do have to wonder if Canes are next on NHLs agenda. Coyotes arena stuff FINALLY gets resolved, Vegas is getting a team,

They've played 6 home games so far. Half those games they drew UNDER 9,000. Attendance is going down and down each year, the $100M lawsuit stuff going on with their owner as well, and the Canes themselves have lost over 25M in past 2 years alone.

Wouldn't be surprised if we see some quick move like what happened with Thrashers. Don't think location will matter so much for the NHL in this scenario is relocation happens. It'll be a 15-16 split between conferences regardless if Canes did move somewhere like KC(and moved to the western conference) or QC(and stay in the east)

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

For someone who isn't necessarily the most informed when it comes to NHL affairs (that would be me), what would you guys say are the odds of Quebec eventually getting an NHL team? And would it basically have to be a relo team at this point?

I always thought the Nordiques were cool, would love to see that city get another franchise.

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

They have a brand new arena and will have no problems broadcasting the games at all, especially with the Rogers deal with the NHL(SN East specifically probably airs the games with blackouts in Montreal and rest of Canada), and being in a division with Montreal,Ottawa,Toronto would be great for rivalries.

People aren't exactly lining up to own an NHL team, QC was one of the only who actually were and NHL just tossed them aside in favor of Vegas. QC could still get a team one day for sure, it just depends on the situation. If it's between QC and a US city like KC or Seattle, then they won't. But like I mentioned, if the Canes get rushed out of Carolina like the Thrashers did in Atlanta, QC might be the only city ready enough to take on a team in such short notice.
