The fact that I have played so little franchise mode this year tells me I hate the new progression system.
It's the wrong way around, having stats drive progression.
In "real life" abilities...

Your D linemen are there to hold blocks off the linebackers, so look for strength above all else. Your DEs will actually have low OVRs, as Madden rates speed at that position, which you shouldn't...

I can never remember! When you have the high potential guys at the top though, you'll see a lot of early round picks, and with the low potentail guys it's mainly U/Ds and 7s.

I have 1st year player Sean Lee in my Cowboys franchise. A potential, but in four years (1st year only as nickle and dime LB, full time starter since) he hasn't gone past an 80 rating.

If he's got good ratings in the attributes you care about, he's racking up stats, why would you be so hung up on the left most rating in the attributes list?

It isn't though. An A potential is not guaranteed to become a star. I have seen plenty never progress beyond an 80 rating.

Not that an OVR rating determines who is a star.....I would have thought...

I think the real upgrade needs to be in how we see player ratings.
There needs to be an element of hiding these. Not completely - I'm hardly going to watch hours of games to scout players myself,...
