What about injuries? That's the one major thing that would pop into my head about a risk of bringing in a cold pitcher... I normally play My Player mode, so I wouldn't know for sure if it affects it...

See, here they drop the bundles at your front door in the morning. You still have to put the papers and flyers together and bag everything, but hey, its a job. Good way to get some exercise as well.

I've noticed that too... and with it being difficult to judge depth in a 2D image, it's nice to have that element.

And yes, it is realistic. Fastballs sound much different than an offspeed...
