It's not a glitch it's 2k clearing roster space for newly added prospects in the game. If you look there's usually more than of the FA pool flooded with players who would never see the light of day...

Id like to go with a high school phenom storyline, then joins Euro lg. After a year or playoffs, he makes a name for himself then declares for draft, etc.
