The two players would not be on the field at the same time. And if the coach really insisted on them both being on the field at the same time, one of the two players would need to change his number....

This is as simple as it gets. Its not a major issue (no one has said it was) but it makes no sense why its not in the game by now.

To be honest, I don't really care if duplicate numbers gets in...

Resources? How many resources do you estimate unlocking numbers would cost the dev team over a complete cycle?

If soeone will cheese and put in a corner at qb, what does the number have to do with anything?

You dont need to sacrifice anything. EA just refuses to do it (for reasons unkown) and pretends it...

Non of those reasons hold water. Lack of double numbers does not disguise QB #15 on Florida any better if their cornerback is not allowed to wear the duplicate number.
